Responsibilities

Solves complex application development problems. Senior people provide technical and administrative direction for personnel persorming software development tasks, including the review of work products for correctness, adherence to the design concept and to user standards, and for progress in accordance with schedules. Responsible for developing and implementing applications software. Develops plans for information technology systems from project inception to conclusion. Analyzes the problem and information to be processed. Defines the problem and develops system requirements and program specifications, fro m which programmers prepare detailed flow cahrts, programs and tests. Develops, in conjunction with functional users, system alternative solutions. Prepares test plans and test data to test the proposed system.

Experience

Mandatory skill requirements: 1. 5+ years Java programming 2. Experience with scripting languages such as Perl, Python, Ruby 3. Understanding of big data challenges 4. Experience with Agile development practices Optional skill requirements: 1. Experience with Hadoop (HDFS, MapReduce) 2. Experience with NoSQL technologies 3. Experience using Open Source Search Engines and writing queries against large data holdings (such as Lucene and SOLr)
