Capabilities - System and Security Engineering
IIS has developed capabilities in system engineering and information assurance. In the systems engineering arena, IIS participates in Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) contracts and also performs systems engineering activities associated with software development projects. In the Information Assurance area, we are concentrating initially on certification and accreditation. We are members of INCOSE, ISSA and the SEI.
System Engineering
System engineering is an interdisciplinary approach to transforming operational needs into a system solution in a high quality, trustworthy, cost efficient and schedule compliant manner. It involves concept development, requirements analysis, architecture development, system design, and system validation. IIS system engineers employ the latest tools including IDEF, DOORS, Popkin Architect, and the Rational Rose Tool Suite. IIS is a member of the International Council on System Engineering (INCOSE).
Information Assurance
Information Assurance are measures that protect and defend information and information systems by ensuring their availability, integrity, authentication, confidentiality, and non-repudiation. IIS is a member of the Information Security Association (ISSA) and encourages its employees to become a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
